What Records the Clerk Maintains
The Scott County Circuit Clerk keeps criminal case files at the circuit level. Felony cases cover drug offenses, violent crimes, property crimes, and other charges that exceed district court jurisdiction. Misdemeanor cases appealed from local district court also land with the circuit clerk.
Each case file contains the charging document, arrest warrant if issued, bond records, plea agreement, judgment and sentencing order, and the full docket sheet marking every step of the case from filing to final disposition.
Records not available to the public include juvenile delinquency records, sealed under Ark. Code Ann. § 9-27-309, and records a court has ordered sealed or expunged. Public copies have Social Security numbers, financial account numbers, and victim addresses in domestic violence cases removed.
Very old Scott County records may be stored in the clerk's archives or at the Arkansas State Archives in Little Rock. For historical records from many decades ago, starting with the archives is often more productive than CourtConnect.
